Spirits vs CSC Party Mix

After struggling to find a worthy opposition, CSC sent in a hand-picked team of mercenaries to eliminate a worthy looking spirits side who were last seen camping out at the Balistair Road compound. To CSC’s disappointment the head of the organisation Amar Bin Laughing and his most trusted generals were AWOL in the caves of Thailand. But that’s another story.
Captain Sedgman won the toss and wisely elected to take the bat on what was a scorcher of a day. A relieved spirits side camped themselves happily in the shade.
Off the back of two sensational ducks for his division 2 side, Sedgman was keen to show why social cricket should still have him. A quick fire 20 of 10 balls had the spirits resting easy, in particular Rajesh down the other end.  Rajesh kept his quiet form going for a few more overs despite the fact Glen had gone (clean bowled (20)). Savarna wasn’t one to be so docile and reached the boundary on his fourth ball.  Then he reached a little further and was bowled for 6.
Bryan went out to the crease with some instructions for the man at the other end; the game had started about 45 minutes ago. Several dot balls and inspired singles later Rajesh lunged forward for the big one, ducking the ball in the process and allowing it prime access to his stumps.
Phil and Bryan kept the paralysis going for a few more balls before Phil found some form and started testing the rope.  A stumped (and stumped) Bryan left the paddock (8) bringing in my personal man o the match Laksh to the crease. A nervous start was followed by an educated knock that got the spirits back on target. Phil’s successful innings came to a close caught for 18, which bought Ravi out to the middle for what was to be a good little partnership. A run-a-ball got the score happily into the hundreds. A deserved retirement for Laksh (32 n.o) was almost equalled by Ravi, who on the “nervous 29’s” got himself bowled. Never mind, the last four batsman would see us out with an impressive 6 runs between them (Richard 2, Loga 3, Ollie 1 n.o, Jason 0 n.o)
Wooden spoon for batting: Madhukar, who pulled out at 3am the night before with a gout relapse…
So 152 after 30 overs…meh.
The less said about the bowling effort the better. Things were feeling good after Captain Glen mounted his trusty steed and orated a classic captains speech but it was downhill from there. Bowlers of limited note were the openers (Ollie and Laksh) who at first seemed to be getting tonked but after the numbers were crunched were actually below the average. Loga was the standout with 2 wickets for a (relatively) miserly 11 from 2 overs. Bryan and Ravi also get a nod for a wicket each.
Best moment: Glens leaping dropped catch, and his even more leaping misfield. Both went to the rope I believe.
Wooden Spoon for bowling: Everyone.
Winners - CSC.  by 10 overs!
Special Mention: extras.  and a couple of decent catches.
